IT Strategy and Supplier Review

Supplier Selection and IT Strategy Review

Context

Demipower are one of the largest KFC franchisee in the UK with approximately 100 stores across the South and West of England. As a result of major business expansion, they needed an end to end review of their IT infrastructure with associated recommendations for improved service arrangements.

Embedded IT worked with the whole management team to understand the core business processes and need for technology to support them, including the impact of expansion on current approaches. An audit of existing IT services and gap analysis to requirements was produced, along with a structured plan to address gaps. Specifications were product to enable supplier engagement to address these gaps and shortlists of suppliers were provided.

Results

Demipower have replaced all core head office systems and are working with a new bigger IT supplier to provide end to end IT Services, designed to improve both resilience and capacity across all business processes. An Independent IT Review

An Independent IT Review

Context

Fareham Borough Council were undergoing significant change, reviewing all business processes for efficiency and challenging themselves on the best way to do things. The IT department needed an independent set of eyes to verify their approach.

Approach

Embedded IT engaged with the Head of HR and IT to interview key staff and review people, process and technology in the context of Fareham’s new business agenda. Within a 2 week study period, a detailed assessment of the IT function produced a prioritised list of actions for change.

Results

The study gave Fareham a plan to upgrade or amend current IT services to better support the broader business function. Key risks and concerns were prioritised and ultimately fed into a IT strategy which aligned top down with the new council strategy.

IT Supplier Review

IT Supplier Review

Context

New Forest District Council were looking for cost savings and efficiencies, with IT being a significant cost centre within the council budget. With a significant reliance on a small handful of long standing suppliers, New Forest were looking for a broader view of the IT market to address their needs.

Approach

Embedded IT engaged with the IT and Procurement functions to write a specification for the tendering of IT, and worked with local procurement officials to establish the process with CCS frameworks to identify suitable bidders.

Results

Immediate results proved difficult to gain engagement from framework suppliers, which lead to a re-negotiation with existing suppliers giving clarity of spend and contract structure to New Forest. IT Strategy was re-affirmed and IT Suppliers are now assessed in the context of a broader strategy.

Supplier Management - Web Project

Supplier Management - Web Project

Context

Pario Design are an architecture and design specialist, focussing on commercial interior design for high end clients.  They had commissioned a third party web design agency to produce their web presence, but were struggling to conclude the project and after 12 months, engaged Embedded to identify and resolve the problem.

Approach

Embedded IT reviewed the contractual and engagement approach and identified the key issue, which was some difficulties in the interfaces between the supplier and client.  Embedded engaged both entities, interpreted the requirements and ensured that the supplier produced the service appropriately.  This involved writing copy on behalf of Pario, and supporting the supplier in completing the design in accordance with the clients wishes.

Results

Within a month of Embedded’s involvement, the supplier had concluded the project and Pario had signed off the deliverable.  Pario also received additional training from the supplier to allow them to amend the website without ongoing supplier support.
